The weather was very humid, but the food was VERY good. Tended to be pricey, but it was worth the money :d Went to the "Two Sisters" and Brigtsen's, among other places. Got my beignets

Touched up and altered a past painting. Tried making the edges sharper and fixing anatomy issues on the face. I'd say he looks a little more youthful now...

Idea I started working on after getting a random idea from watching a commercial. The nose gave me a lot of trouble. I know it's supposed to be perkier with the tip pointing up, but... agh, i hate noses.

Zuko and Catalina Island WIP

Getting there... I'm not sure whether I want to start over on the Catalina painting or not... Hmmm. Next fan art will be Sokka and something from Haibane Renmei. I'll do one of Memento once I watch it...

Zuko WIP update

I made him a little more "manly." Made his neck a little thicker and face a little longer. Loosely basing him off of Nishikido Ryo. He's not Chinese, like I imagine Zuko to be, but I liked his facial structure...

Avatar fan art - Zuko WIP

Finished watching Avatar this week and felt like doing a fan art. Chelsey wanted me to do Zuko and Sokka, so here's one of them.

I wanted to get some practice so I started a portrait of Zuko. His face doesn't feel quite right yet, like it's too feminine... Comments and critiques welcome!

Almost done. Her hands are pretty tricky... they're obscured by shadows, interlocked and the ref I have is kinda small. Her shoes were the next most problematic part. The colored and a clothed version are next. Not sure if it'll just be draped cloth or clothing....

Concepts - silhouettes

Some fantasy type silhouettes I did. Used a handful of custom brushes to create different shapes for ideas.

In other news, swag I got at GDC this year!


The usual light up pens, hand sanitizer, Strong Bad pins, Sam/Max (?) pins, Dragon Quest slime lens cleaners, a noise thing of the Rabbid Rabbits, a heat sensitive mouse pad (which is fun to play with while things load), Little Big Planet magnets, and the Lich King cinematic book! Ironically, I had to pay for my favorite item(the book), but it's full of very nice art works, 2 prints and a neat little story book about the fall of Sindragosa. My fridge got +10 coolness points toady, too.

Stay tuned kids. Concept works for my portolio in the works.

I almost suspect everyone in my class is avoiding using the male ref where certain anatomy is visible, so I, wanting to dispel the trend, picked this one. Originally, I had the same qualms of feeling awkward, but I liked his pose and how the light hit his arms so strong.
